Every three months a good Google ranking does not make but time has got away from me. I hasten to add that I consider this time well spent. One of the many weekends was spent at the Bristol Comic Expo. This was the first time I have visted the convention and I have to say it will definitely not be the last. I had an amazing time. Attended some talks, got some books signed by Andy Diggle and Jock, spent way too much money on more comics and saw Coraline 3D which was spell binding. Apparently the event was scaled down this year but this didn’t stop me from being overwhelmed and very star struck. I assure you the last three months haven’t just be used to gallivant around the country, I have been working.

The first of these projects to bare fruit is an article I wrote for AlertNerd.com for the fourth issue of their PDF zine Grok. This time it’s all about Extra Life. Head over to the link above to download your free copy.

Secondly, I’m still working on the art for Mark Clapham’s story The Beast Within for Accent UK’s 2010 anthology Predators. And then in 2011 the Victoriana anthology will contain a story by myself entitled Aspirations & Appirations. There is an artist attached but I’ll post more on that as it happens.

Black Sol is now called Singularity and is moving forward faster than the high velocity star it contains. I have also created a one and done comic which I’ll post up here over the weekend. Yep that’s me kind of saying I won’t leave it so long next time (again).

Give or take a few days but I like to feel this has been some kind of blogging related lent for any one who visits this site. This blog will hopefully fill in that month and a half gap and assure you I have been busy. First all if you aren’t being fed this through a web syndicator then you’ve probably noticed the redesign from the standard template which was more than over due.

Back at the beginning of February I was approached by indie horror director Stacy Davidson to…I’ve said too much. Here is a link to Stacy’s film company Odyssee Pictures and an article on his blog and below is the trailer to his latest film Sweat Shop. Just as tantalizing tidbits.

After spending almost three years as an idea somewhere in the back of my mind and on various scraps of paper around my desk I have finally started work on Obscura. This is a small comic I hope to finish and self-publish before Bristol International Comics Expo in May. Here is a glimpse at some of the early artwork.

As if the above wasn’t good enough. I’m also going to be contributing artwork to AccentUK‘s 2010 anthology Predators. I’m providing the artwork for Mark Clapham‘s words. It is a really great story entitled The Beast Within with an equally great script and I can’t wait to get started. It’s going to be so much fun.

So there you are a pretty busy and productive forty or so days. Told ya.

PS. Kevin Barry has started up a blog over at http://www.kmbarry.blogspot.com. He has posted some of the intial art for his comic Undying Faces. You really should take a look.

About quarter of the way through Morrison discusses the individual as an illusion which reminded me of an essay I wrote a couple of years ago. Before now I’ve never really had any outlet for it so here it is in .pdf format below.

Well one of my New Year’s resolutions was to post on here more often but my best laid plans were ruined by a burnt out hard disk and the loss of about three months work. Occasions like this are what 300GB external drives are for but hadn’t quite got into a routine of regular back ups. Unfortunately unlike Warren Ellis, I’m not writing three ongoing titles for Avatar and have not been given a nice powerbook with which to work. Instead I have had to suffice with grabbing a computer where ever I can to write my next script. Despite this I’ve finally finished my script for issue #1 of Dodger!.

To celebrate I’m off to watch Planet Terror on DVD. I always forget how much I love Robert Rodriguez films. Always thought a comic title about Sands and the Chiclet boy from ‘Once Upon A Time In Mexico’ would make for an interesting concept.
