It’s been a long time. Not a sign of inertia but actually quite the opposite. The more you have in the works the less you can really talk about. Partly because you don’t want to start advertising something that is far from complete, so that when it’s time to release it everybody is sick of hearing you drone on. Also your loathe to put an idea that may never actually make it to fruition having stalled or collapsed along the way. I’m pleased to say that I can now safely talk about several projects that will see the light of day some time in 2011. I’m pretty excited about the year ahead.

First of all I have contributed in some way to three AccentUK anthologies for 2011. As I’ve probably mentioned previously, I have provided art for Mark Clapham’s The Beast Within in Predators, I’ll be pencilling Paul Bowles’ Goodbye in 2ombies, and I have my own story Aspirations and Apparitions in Victoriana.

Colouring and lettering have recently been finished on the main feature of my debut comic, Rockstar Scientists. With pencils and inks provided by George Zapata and colours added by Amit Ghadge Subscribers to our facebook page would have already seen the image above, the inked cover of Rockstar Scientists #1, before George himself has added colour to it. Rockstar Scientists will be seeing the light of day late Spring 2011 and we’ll keep you updated.

Until then happy New Year and I’ll leave you with a titbit of another project that may be released early 2011 all going well. As I say I don’t like to jinx these things.

This is my new comic and my entry into round 2 of this years Dimestore Press’ Small Press Idol, The Unspeakables. This round is vote based and with your help will allow us to progress to round 3 (kinda obviously) where we will have four pages of sequentials featuring quantum space stations, tattooed eyes, living numbers and graverooms. If you have the time I would really appreciate your vote at the link above.

We have graduated to round 2 of Small Press Idol 2010 with three yes’. The above image is the rough pencils for The Unspeakables #0 front cover by Joe Griggs. And if you look below you can read our pitch for the multiple time and dimensions adventure:

Almost twenty years after his family’s mysterious disappearance, Timothy Sartre returns from a self imposed exile. Back then he was a thirteen year old boy, now he is a man equipped with the knowledge and, more importantly, the means to recover his life. Timothy knows he must go into the spaces between space but won’t be going alone. Enlisting a group of misfits to assist him, starting with Heather ‘The Body’ Jones, a supermodel cum actress who believes she is Frankenstein’s monster and the mathematical genius Oscar ‘Bluff’ Tellier, a man left blinded to light but open to numbers after a gambling accident. Operating out of a space station constructed entirely of quantum copies of other buildings, The Unspeakables fight enemies that lurk in the periphery of three dimensions in an attempt to find the truth not only about Timothy’s family but also about themselves. Just don’t believe anything your ‘eye’ tells you.

Round two consists of character and logo designs so if you like what you here then stay tuned for further updates.

Every three months a good Google ranking does not make but time has got away from me. I hasten to add that I consider this time well spent. One of the many weekends was spent at the Bristol Comic Expo. This was the first time I have visted the convention and I have to say it will definitely not be the last. I had an amazing time. Attended some talks, got some books signed by Andy Diggle and Jock, spent way too much money on more comics and saw Coraline 3D which was spell binding. Apparently the event was scaled down this year but this didn’t stop me from being overwhelmed and very star struck. I assure you the last three months haven’t just be used to gallivant around the country, I have been working.

The first of these projects to bare fruit is an article I wrote for AlertNerd.com for the fourth issue of their PDF zine Grok. This time it’s all about Extra Life. Head over to the link above to download your free copy.

Secondly, I’m still working on the art for Mark Clapham’s story The Beast Within for Accent UK’s 2010 anthology Predators. And then in 2011 the Victoriana anthology will contain a story by myself entitled Aspirations & Appirations. There is an artist attached but I’ll post more on that as it happens.

Black Sol is now called Singularity and is moving forward faster than the high velocity star it contains. I have also created a one and done comic which I’ll post up here over the weekend. Yep that’s me kind of saying I won’t leave it so long next time (again).
